Who will take care of my child?

Your child will be cared for primarily by his or her cabin counselor. Our counselors participate in ten days of staff training where they learn how to best care for each camper. In addition, we certify every staff member in First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer.

How many staff do you have in the summer?

We have around 120 summer staff members, in addition to 35 full time staff members.

Will Timber-lee give my child medical attention?

A Health Services team member (nurse or EMT) will be on duty at all times and will dispense medication per instructions. They are also able to dispense over the counter medicine, if necessary. If your child needs medical attention while at camp, one of our Health Services team members will assist your child or take him or her to the doctor’s office or local hospital. You will be notified if your child needs to be taken off camp grounds due to an illness or injury.

What safeguards do you have at the waterfront, horsemanship, on trail rides, at the climbing tower, and on high ropes?

We have Red Cross certified lifeguards at the beach, and we use a buddy board system to account for each camper. At the ranch, campers are required to wear helmets and are under the guidance of trained trail guides and horsemanship instructors. Certified, trained staff members supervise the tower and high ropes course. Campers wear helmets and are securely harnessed and attached to safety lines during their climbs. We are certified by a number of different agencies based on our adherence to safety procedures.

Do the campers wander around by themselves all day?

No. If you have a child at kids’ camp, they are with their counselor all day. As your child progresses to junior high camp and high school camp, they get more supervised free time.

What kind of meals do you serve?

Timber-lee has great food! We serve pizza, hamburgers, chicken nuggets, sub sandwiches, turkey…lots of good food that is healthy, too. Cereal is available at every meal in case your child doesn’t like the main item for any meal.

Can we call or visit our child at camp?

You are more than welcome to write your child a letter or email him or her through the Bunk1 program we have set up. Personal visits and phone calls are not allowed. We will notify you if something happens that needs your attention.

When will we receive our child’s cabin assignment?

You will find out where your child is staying when you register on Sunday afternoon.

Will my child get to be in a cabin with his or her friends?

You may request two cabin buddies for your child, and it works best if the buddies you request are the same age, and if the buddies choose each other. We do what we can to keep friends together, but we can’t make any promises.
